“Sleek, upscale coffeehouse with light bites & art shows, plus beer, wine & cocktails at night.” Bossa nova, samba, choro, frevo, xote, baiao, tango, and original compositions. On this evening, we will premiere our version of Astor Piazolla’s “Libertango.”
Richard Rodgers is EGOT, an acronym for the Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony Awards — the designation given to people who have won all four of those awards. Respectively, these awards honour outstanding achievements in television, recording, film, and Broadway theatre. Achieving the EGOT has been referred to as the “grand slam” of show business. As of 2022, 17 people have accomplished this feat. In addition, he was awarded a Pulitzer Prize, making him one of only two people to receive all five awards (Marvin Hamlisch is the other). We will be playing his Academy Award-winning song, It Might As Well Be Spring, as well as favourites: Have You Met Miss Jones, My Romance, Lady Is a Tramp, I Could Write a Book, Bewitched, Where Or When, and many more. Please come and support us in, what we hope will be, our new residency (now that Koi is gone).
